A short and easy walk takes you to The Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World, Summerfest, the Third Ward & Milwaukee Public Market. Bring a bike and cruise the lakeshore to Bradford Beach, Lakefront State Park, or add miles on the Oak Leaf Trail, which connects 125 miles of recreational trails throughout the city.

The War Memorial Center and Milwaukee County invite you to join local elected officials, military personnel, veterans, and first responders across Milwaukee County to honor and remember the fallen heroes and lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Ceremony to take place in the War Memorial Center’s Veterans Courtyard at 8 AM on Thursday, September 11th.

The War Memorial Center is once again taking part in Doors Open Milwaukee – 2025. Please join us for a look behind the scenes at the War Memorial Center, Sunday, September 28 ( 10 am – 5 pm ). Our educational programs, events, and resources are designed to help students and the public understand the significance of military service, the history behind the War Memorial Center, and learn about the courage and sacrifice of Wisconsin service members and their families.

Vet's Day 5K

Start your winter running season off on the right foot and honor our veterans and current service members at the Vets Day 5k & 10k at the War Memorial on Saturday, November 8, 2025. This is the only race that starts and finishes on Mason street right in front of the War Memorial. Join your fellow runners after the race for awards and a gourmet hot chocolate bar!
