Service Experience Day is the War Memorial Center’s signature event for students in grades 4-6. Launched in 2019, this program is now held four times a year – two dates in the spring and two dates in the fall – with a capacity for 150 students each day.
Service Experience Day is one way we engage veterans in our community, providing a unique opportunity for them to tell children about their military experience – whether they are combat veterans or served outside of war zones or during peacetime, active duty, or in the National Guard or reserves.

Service Experience Day is our most popular student education program, serving 600 students a year over four dates. The purpose of the event is to show students in grades 4-6 all the facets of military service. We are always looking for groups and individuals who can help students understand service throughout history.
Exhibitors and performers will be directly engaging with students between 9:30 am and 12 pm. The best kinds of exhibits and performances are those that appeal to multiple senses and provide some tactile opportunities (the students want to touch things!), along with educational touchpoints.
