The heart of the War Memorial Center is Veterans Courtyard, where our eternal flame is surrounded by our Honor Roll, inscribed with the names of the 3,481-war dead from Milwaukee County from WWII to present. In 2019, the War Memorial Center launched a major project to begin gathering information, photos, letters, and documents about Wisconsin soldiers who answered the call and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. The information we find, collect, or that is shared with us via the military, social media, family, or friends, is converted into a digital format so the community can research and learn some of the background and history of the Wisconsin soldiers listed on the Honor Roll.
If you have information, photos, letters, or documents regarding a fallen soldier from Milwaukee County and would like to share this with the War Memorial Center, please call 414-273-5533 or education@warmemorialcenter.org.
