This lesson explores the concept of missing in action (MIA) – and the implications for family members – through the story of Captain Matthew Rosenblum of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, who was declared MIA in 1942 in the Philippines after his initial status of prisoner of war (POW). Cpt. Rosenblum was among more than 70,000 Americans and Filipinos who were forced into the Bataan Death March.
