Milwaukee County War Memorial

Remember Their Sacrifices with a Gift to WMC

From David DrentThere are 3,481 names are listed on the Honor Roll at the War Memorial Center – names of Milwaukee County men and women killed in action while fighting to protect America’s freedom. Every one of these names has a story:  Edward, killed in action in WWII; Dominic, Army private killed in Korea; Terri, Marine sergeant killed in Vietnam; and Michelle, Army National Guard private killed in Iraq.

This Memorial Day help us to honor and remember Wisconsin veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice through a special Memorial Day gift. Your gift will honor their service in protecting our freedom and help us to tell the stories of those no longer able to speak for themselves.

Since its inception in 1957, the War Memorial Center has been dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of our service men and women.  The Eternal Flame in Veterans Courtyard stands over the most sacred area of the War Memorial to honor the fallen 24 hours a day, 365 days a year reminding visitors that freedom is not free. Over 400 youth last year learned firsthand about service, sacrifice and patriotism in order to ensure our fallen veterans sacrifices would not be forgotten.  Plans are underway to expand the War Memorial Center’s educational programming and teach a new generation about the importance of civic responsibility and patriotic duty through exciting interactive displays and programs.

I invite you to join us after the Memorial Day Parade on May 30, 2016 for a special service held on our newly renovated Veterans Courtyard to remember the sacrifices of our Wisconsin service men and women.

This is YOUR War Memorial Center…cherish it…enjoy it…support it.  Please consider making a special Memorial Day gift today.
