Memorial Day Parade Takes Center Stage May 30th
Since 1865, Milwaukee’s Memorial Day Parade has been a Milwaukee tradition. This year’s event will honor Milwaukee County Veteran of the Year Ralph Bagneski and all those United States Marine Corps Veterans who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation.
Led by Grand Marshall and USMC Vietnam Veteran Tim Baranzyk and funded through private contributions to the Volunteers of the General Memorial Day Committee, the 151st annual parade will take place on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., starting at 4th and Wisconsin and proceeding to War Memorial Center. Spectators will experience color guards, marching units, bands, military vehicles, motorcycles and more!
Following the parade, there will be commemorative events, including a wreath laying and a POW/MIA ceremony at the reflecting pool on WMC’s second level. There will be also be an accompanying performance by the Metropolitan Community Band.
The WMC will also be installing 50 new bricks at the Vietnam Memorial this Memorial Day. Orders are taken year long and installed on Memorial Day each year.
