Back in the World
A Portrait Exhibit of Wisconsin Vietnam War Veterans

War Memorial Center
Milwaukee
November 1 - January 31, 2011

The War Memorial Center is proud to present Back in the World - A Portrait Exhibit of Wisconsin Vietman War Veterans, November 1 - December 10, 2010.

Taken between 2007 and 2009 by Wisconsin Public Television photographer James Gill, the portraits in this exhibition show Vietnam Veterans decades after the war, revealing their experiences as survivors of an unpopular war and the public indifference that greeted them upon their return. The exhibition is part of the Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories documentary project, a three-part series that aired on MPTV in May 2010. Each portrait is accompanied by an interview excerpt, along with the name of the person photographed, branch of service, unit, specialization, and dates of service.

Presented in conjunction with the Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories documentary project and LZ Lambeau, partnerships of the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs, the Wisconsin Historical Society and Wisconsin Public Television.
