Memorial Day Parade Takes Place May 26th
We like to think every day is Memorial Day at the War Memorial Center. After all, honoring veterans is what we do.
But if you’re looking for something special to do on Memorial Day this Monday, then plan to spend the afternoon at the WMC for the 152nd Annual Memorial Day Parade.
It’s one of the longest running parades in the country, beginning right after the Civil War. This year’s parade will take place on Monday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m.
The parade steps off from 4th St. and Wisconsin Ave., heads east down Wisconsin Ave., ending at the War Memorial Center.
Immediately following the parade, there will be a ceremony and wreath laying in Veterans Courtyard at the WMC in front of the Eternal Flame.
This year’s parade honors the USO. Milwaukee County Veteran of the Year Dick Trawicki will also be honored. Grand Marshals are Bob and Kathy Hawkins.
Much thanks to the volunteers of the General Memorial Day Committee, who keep this grand tradition going year after year. For more details on the Memorial Day Parade, visit the parade web site.
