Korean War Poster Exhibit at WMC

The Milwaukee County War Memorial Center is pleased to announce an exhibition of 15 Korean War Posters, which were produced and distributed by the Department of Defense to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War.

James Kroening, a local program representative for the Menomonee Falls VFW Post 9496. created the display from his own personal funds and has exhibited the collection in his home VFW post and at libraries, and schools throughout Wisconsin.

As shown in the photo above, the collection includes:

Panel 1: Map of Korea depicting the over all war and the major participants.

Panel 2: Complete chronology of the 3 year war.

Panels 3-7: Description of each of the five phases of war

Panels 3– 15: Depicts various aspects of the conflict and are titled:

  • “Man Your Battle Stations”
  • “Air Power Dominates The Skies”
  • “The Immeasurable Cost of Freedom Supporting The Front Lines”
  • “A Salute to the Women of Korean War
  • “Prisoners of War and the Missing In Action”
  • “The Elusive Peace Defending The Front Lines

The War Memorial Center is thrilled and humbled to have Mr. Kroening’s collection, which canb be viewed during normal business hours on the Ground level (LL1) of the War Memorial Center.
