Former Refugees Visit WMC
On November 7, the War Memorial Center welcomed 20 students and their teacher and interpreter from the Milwaukee Neighborhood House U.S. citizenship program.
Mostly in their 60s, the students were from Burma and had immigrated to the U.S. from refugee camps in Thailand. Mark Fox talked to the group about the 9/11 Memorial and American Legion Post 18 performed a flag ceremony.
During the tour of the War Memorial Center, the group especially connected with the flag and information on the China-Burma-India Veterans Association, founded by Wisconsinites and once headquartered in the War Memorial Center.
